Phase 1 - Session 5 - Read the label before it's on the table
Participants will discuss the following points:
- Tips on making healthy choices while visiting the local grocery store
- Label reading tips - as easy as 1, 2, 3 (calories, fat, fiber)
- You can't go wrong in the produce section
- Fat-free is not calorie-free or sugar-free
- Low-carb is not always low-calorie
- Use frozen fruits and vegetables to add variety
- Plan meals around fruits and vegetables, not meat
- Make a healthy shopping list
