Phase 1 - Session 2 - Nourish your body with whole foods to feel the
fullness with fiber
Participants will discuss the following points:
- Why we choose what we eat
- Choosing to nourish with whole foods to feel the fullness with fiber
- Many diets uniformly exclude very healthy, whole foods (potato, fruit, corn,
chicken)
- Benefits of whole foods (i.e. help control and stabilize blood sugar levels)
- Whole foods and fiber fill you up faster and keep you fuller longer
- A plant-based diet is the foundation of eating a balanced, whole-foods diet
- The new food pyramid - MyPyramid - which contains the latest Dietary
Guidelines
- Focus on adding more fruits, vegetables and whole grains/whole starches
to your meals
- Fitting in fiber - strive for 25 grams
- Review whole grains, whole starches, fruits and vegetables to fit into your
meal plan
